A little Friday Fun--Blush Stash Pictures!

My favorite things on the internet to look at are pictures of makeup.  You know stash pictures, etc.  So, I just thought I'd share a few (not great) pictures of my blush (and highlighter) stash.  They're generally in alphabetical order, if that helps ID the brands/shades at all.

Bobbi Brown Shimmer Powder Blush--Pink Sugar

Pink Sugar Blush from Bobbi Brown is a lovely pale baby pink, with quite a bit of shimmer.  The color is very soft, not bubble gum pink.  It isn't peachy, but it isn't super-cool toned either. It leans more toward neutral (but still on the cooler side) and maybe with a touch of grey.  Here is how it looks in the pan (on the upper right of this pic)

and here is the swatch--Pink Sugar is the third from the right. 

It's a very soft pink with some shimmer.  The shimmer isn't over the top crazy, but it is noticeable. I find that the texture of the Bobbi Brown Shimmer blushes is not as soft as the regular matte blushes.  It feels a little coarser and grittier, but it is still a nice texture.  The shimmer in these is more of a sheen.  There is no chunky glitter--it's very fine.  If you're looking for a soft pink shimmery blush, then Pink Sugar is for you.  Next up is Poppy, about as different as you can get.  TTYL!

Bobbi Brown Powder Blush--Pale Pink

Pale Pink is my favorite of all the Bobbi Brown blushes.  Why?  Because I like pink!  =)

Seriously, if you look at my blush collection, it is pretty obvious that I'm partial to pink blush.  I've never counted, but I'm sure they outnumber all other shades by a fair bit.

Anyway, Bobbi Brown's Pale Pink powder blush was one of my first blogs, in the Seven Days of Bright Pink Blush, if you care to read it again.  I'm sure my opinion hasn't changed much. 

The name Pale Pink for this blush is really amusing, because it isn't the least bit pale.  It's very bright and vivid. Here's a picture (it's on the upper left):

Pale Pink is a lovely face-brightening vivid pink.  It's cool-toned and has a matte finish.  The texture is very nice--smooth, silky, and pigmented.  It's easy to sheer out into a gorgeous (not so) pale pink color on the cheek.  It should work for most cool or neutral tone complexions.  You can see the swatch below, the 5th from the left.

Bobbi Brown Powder Blush--Nectar

Some colors are really hard for me to describe and Nectar powder blush from Bobbi Brown is one of those colors for me.  Is it rose?  Apricot?  Pink?  I just don't know, but I think it is a combination of all those colors.  To me, it is a muted Rosy-Apricot (that's the Bobbi Brown version of Apricot).  It is on the lower right of the picture below.

It has a tad bit of brownish-terracotta in it as well, but I think a lot of roses are like that.  It is a lovely color--nicely pigmented and flattering for most people.  It is also matte and the texture of the powder is smooth and silky.

  Below are the swatches for the BB blushes that I have.  Nectar is the fourth from the left.

Bobbi Brown Powder Blush--Desert Rose

The next of my Bobbi Brown Powder Blushes is Desert Rose.  I did a posting about Desert Rose in my Seven Days of Roses series, if you want to take a look at it.  Desert Rose is a lovely brownish-mauve rose shade that works really well as a neutral (not overwhelming) blush to pair with smoky eyes.  It is pictured in the lower left of this picture:

It is kind of unassuming in the pan, but looks really pretty on.  It is matte and the powder is very soft and silky smooth. In the swatch below (3rd from the left), it looks more brown than it is in person.  

Even though the colors are different, I consider it in the same class as Lancome Miel Glace.  Both are wonderful for subtle, professional, everyday looks.

Bobbi Brown Shimmer Powder Blush--Bahama Brown

Today's blush is Bahama Brown, a shimmer blush from Bobbi Brown.  It is a neutral medium brown with tiny bits of silver shimmer.  The shimmer is very finely milled and not at all chunky.  Here is a picture of it--it's in the upper right of this picture.

It looks kind of blah in the picture, but looks nicer on.  A picture of all the swatches are below.  Bahama Brown is second from the left.

It buffs out to a really pretty chocolate milk color (with tiny specks of silver).  It's a nice basic color and I think it would look really nice on most skin tones.  Tomorrow is Desert Rose--it's lovely!

Bobbi Brown Blush--Apricot

Apricot blush from Bobbi Brown is a little different than many of the other Apricot blushes around, but the differences make me love it more.  When some people think of Apricot, they think more yellow/orange, but Bobbi Brown's version looks more like a lovely pinky-coral color to me.  It really is lovely on the face and helps brighten the complexion.  Here is a picture of the first batch of blushes:

Apricot is in the upper left of that picture and you can see how pretty it is.  In the swatches below, you can see how it compares to the other Bobbi Brown blushes that I have.

Bobbi Brown powder blushes are very richly pigmented and ultra smooth and silky going on.  The matte blushes (like Apricot) are very soft and not the least bit chalky or gritty.  I love the way they pop in and out of the new compacts so the palettes are easy to customize for my needs.  Tomorrow, is a shimmer blush, Bahama Brown.

Becca Pressed Shimmer Powder--Princess

Princess is the final Pressed Shimmer Powder from Becca in this tour of my blush and highlighter stash.  Princess is a  rosy-peach highlighter.

On my skin, it is a slightly warm rose color that buffs out to a lovely shimmer.  I love it layered over blushes like Chanel Rose Petale.  In the photo below, it is buffed out.

Isn't it lovely?  In the next photo is how it looked before it was sheered out.  It looks browner and peachier when heavily applied.

Princess PSP makes a lovely topper for blushes or just a nice highlight all by itself for the ultra pale ladies.  Like all the other Becca PSPs, Princess is smooth and shimmery, but not glittery or chunky.  They all give a gorgeous sheen on the cheeks.

Becca Pressed Shimmer Powder--Odette

Today's PSP from Becca is Odette.  It's more of a gold highlighter and I think this would be lovely on medium-dark warm skintones.  Unfortunately, I don't really think it does much for my ultra-pale cool skin.  When it is heavily applied, it's a brassy-gold color, as in the picture below.

But when applied with a lighter hand, it is a lovely shimmery gold as seen below.

This is fairly shimmery, but the powder is still smooth and the shimmer is not chunky glitter.

Becca Pressed Shimmer Powder--Nymph

Today's offering--Nymph PSP from Becca is a gorgeous highlighter that is pretty basic and universal.  It is just a smooth light cream/champagne shimmery powder that lends an ethereal glow to the cheekbones.  Here is how it looks in the pan, not that exciting, but scroll down for heavy and light application to see how luminous it is.

My best tip for where to apply shimmer powder is to find a picture where someone looks youthful and naturally glowy and apply it with a fan brush in the same places where she glows--usually the top of the cheekbones and a little bit about the eyebrows.

The thing that I love most about these PSPs is the texture.  They are so lovely and smooth and not a hint of dry chunkiness about them.  Odette is up next--quite a bit different from Nymph!  TTYL!
