A Beautiful Bunch of Bright Pink Blushes

I don't think it will come as a surprise to most of you, but my very favorite color for blush is bright pink.  It is just irresistible to me and if possible, I think that I would like to collect every single one.  I'm not sure if this is all of my bright pinks, but here is a picture of most of them:
Aren't they lovely?  Ha!  Some of the blushes I chose are currently available, some are discontinued, some have been reformulated, and some are brand new.  People often ask what my favorite blush is and I'd have to say it's Chanel Turbulent.  I prefer the color of the Euro/baked version, but the texture of the US one.  I've been using it sparingly because it is one of the discontinued ones and very hard to find.  Luckily, Nars Gaiety is really close in color and the texture is very nice for a Nars blush.  It doesn't have any shimmer, but still gives a nice glow.  If I need more, I can use a separate highlighter.  Here are the bright pink swatches:
Some are much more raspberry pink and others become cool and pale instead of the fluorescent pink they look like in the pan.  One of my favorites for texture is Beauty is Life.  The texture of Joy (and the others I have) is soft and creamy powder, really heavenly.  You can see the older versions of a couple Shu blushes on the far right--they're among my favorites in texture as well.
I have to admit to being a bit of a snob when it comes to the texture of blush.  I really prefer very fine powder that isn't too compressed or hard.  That is why I'm not crazy about the Chanel baked blushes--it's a bit hard to get color payoff from them.  They're finely milled, but the texture is hard.  There are no blushes here that I hate--the colors are lovely and even though not all the formulations are my favorite, there are much, much worse on the market.
I'm trying to post more and I'll be doing smaller groupings of colors/brands/etc. in the coming weeks.  Thanks for reading!  I hope you enjoyed seeing some of my favorite things.  <3

Week 4, Day 7. Shimmery Blush--Nars Super Orgasm

I saved the glitterbomb for last.  To be fair, Nars Super Orgasm looks much more sparkly in the pan than it is  in actual use on the face.  Despite it's Over The Top glitter in the pan, the color is quite pretty and most of the glitter can be buffed off to leave just a nice glow on the cheeks.

The color is slightly more pinky/rosy than regular Orgasm, making this a shimmery peachy-pink (instead of pinky-peach, like O).  The texture is better than many blushes, but slightly dry and gritty in comparison to some of my favorite brands.

If you can get past the glitter in this one and do a little work, it really is a beautiful color on the face.  On my shimmer scale, this one comes in at a 9.5, probably the glitteriest blush I own, but it's possible there are ones which are more glittery out there.

So, this has been a fun week of shimmery blushes.  I hope you've enjoyed seeing some of my more flashy blushes (and highlighters)!  Next week, I'm doing Seven Days of Chanel Blushes.  Yay!

Week 4, Day 3. Shimmery Blush--Nars Orgasm

Nars Orgasm, just saying the name to my mom would make me blush.  Orgasm is meant to duplicate the natural glow that a women gets after, um, er, uh, you know, sex.
Now that that is out of the way, I want to apologize for the ugliness of my Orgasm.  I know it isn't all pristine and attractive like some of my blushes, but in my opinion all blushes are beautiful, even ones showing an obscene amount of pan.  I received this as an extra in a swap , so I can't take credit for all the pan that's showing.

So, here it is, eek!  What color is Nars Orgasm exactly.  I've heard it called peachy, pinky, peachy-pink, and pure shimmer with no color payoff at all.  In my opinion (keep in mind my pale, cool-toned skin) it is pinky-peach with a hint of coral and golden shimmer.

Obviously it would look different on each individual's skin. It is a little hard and gritty in texture compared to some of my other blushes (like R&R and Chantecaille), but it does give a nice glow.  It's a generous size, but the rubber packaging isn't my favorite.  As far as the level of shimmer, I would give it about a 8.5 on the shimmer scale, where 0 is matte, 5 is glowy, and 10 is glittertastic.  The shimmer is fine and not clunky, but not as fine as the Dior Shimmer Star from yesterday.

If you like the color, I hope you can have your own Orgasm soon!  Tomorrow will be a lovely pinky raspberry blush--Lancome Shimmer Pink Pool.  =)

Week 4--Seven Days of Shimmery Blush

Wow!  I can't believe this is already my fourth week, time sure flies when you're playing with blush!  This week's theme is Shimmery Blush.  In my opinion, there is a scale of shimmery which runs from subtle or glowy all the way up to glittery.  Because I am a (semi) mature woman and not a teen-age cheerleader, most of the blushes that I own are from glowy to the middle range of shimmery.  I don't have too many glitter bombs.  Of the ones I picked for the week most probably double as highlighters and some will only be highlighters on certain skin tones.  At the very least, these blushes do not require the addition of highlighter, unless roadside reflection is required.  Here's the group picture for the week--aren't they pretty!

The blushes for the week are:
1. Duwop Watermelon Blushbooster
2. Dior Shimmer Powder 01--Rose Diamond
3. NARS Orgasm
4. Lancome Shimmer Pink Pool
5. Duwop Mango Blushbooster
6. Chanel Winter Shimmer JC
7. NARS Super Orgasm

And here's the swatches

As you can see, I tried to pick a range of colors and amount of shimmer.  I know I missed a few blushes that I no longer own like Nars Oasis and Sin.  I also didn't include Nars Angelika this week, because it was discussed in Week 1--Seven Days of Bright Pink Blush. Tomorrow will begin with one of the more subtle choices, Duwop Watermelon Blushbooster.  A gorgeous pink illuminating blush--I don't know why it looks so peachy in my swatch.

See you tomorrow to begin Seven Days of Shimmery Blush!

Week 1, Day 5. Bright Pink Blush--Nars Desire

Today's blush is Nars Desire.  Another matte blush, it is a gorgeous cool pink, similar to Bobbi Brown's Pale Pink of yesterday.  One difference is that this is somewhat more pigmented.  I love the color of Desire, but I think the formula is not as smooth as R&R.  Here is how it looks in the pan.

It's beautiful, right?  I really do like it, but I have to say that Nars aren't my favorite blushes for a couple of reasons.  First is the packaging, it gets dirty and over time, the rubber breaks down and has a tendency to get sticky (ick!).  Another reason is that while they're more pigmented than most blushes, they lack the smoothness of R&R and the glowiness of Chanel Joues Contraste blushes.  I used to have almost all the Nars, but only 5 or 6 remain in my collection.  Here are the swatches again.  Nars Desire is #5.  It is slightly warmer than Pale Pink, but not quite as much as Angelika.

Nars Desire really is a pretty blush, that is wearable by anyone.  Just make sure to apply lightly at first, then add more as needed.  It's easier to add more than take some off!  =)  Tomorrow will be the 6th day of Bright Pink Blush Week.  Come back then and I'll talk about one of my faves, Shu Uemura P Wine 24. In the meantime I'd love to hear your thoughts on Nars blushes and if you agree (or not) with me.

Week 1, Day 2. Bright Pink Blush--Nars Angelika

For my 2nd day of Bright Pink Blush, I've chosen Angelika. I have to be honest and say, although it is really pretty, I never use this blush. I'm not sure why, pink and sparkly blushes are some of my favorite things on earth. It is a med-bright pink with little silver sparkles. Not so much glitter that you'll look like a disco ball, but not matte at all. It's the good Nars quality, nice pigmentation and smooth. I must say that R&R exceeds Nars in both those categories in my opinion.

As you can see, it is a more neutral pink than the Kinky of yesterday, which is more blue based. Angelika is #2 in these swatches. You can also see the hint of shimmer.

As you can see Angelika is a softer pink, more neutral, and with more shimmer than R&R Kinky. It is the softest of all my bright pink blushes and should suit most people, except those that have a dislike for shimmer. Tomorrow, I'll go in a different direction and talk about Chantecaille Ecstasy. Let me know what blushes you'd like to see here!

Week 1--Seven Days of Bright Pink Blush

I'm crazy for pink blush, all pink blushes. Really, there isn't much left to say on that subject except that I'm utterly fixated on it. If I see one in the store, it will be mine. So to get my career as a blogger started with a bang, I'm kicking it off with my favorite category of blush. BRIGHT PINK. These are the ones that might look scary pink in the pan, but hopefully give a gorgeous natural flush. For this week, I've chosen from my collection the following:
1. R&R Kinky
2. Nars Angelika
3. Chantecaille Ecstasy
4. Bobbi Brown Pale Pink
5. Nars Desire
6. Shu P Wine 25
7. Chanel Turbulent
